PNEUMONIA

PNEUMONIA 

SYMPTOMS DIAGNOSES AND TREATMENTS

Pneumonia is an inflammatory lung disease caused by infection with bacteria, fungus, or virus. Bacterial pneumonia is the most common disease.
In pneumonia, the alveoli or the air sac are inflamed due to infection and filled with pus which makes breathing difficult.
Bronchitis and pneumonitis are two closely synonymous words describing their similarity.
Sometimes bronchitis can be confused with pneumonia to diagnose.
Pneumonia is inflammatory that may or may not be due to infection whereas bronchitis is purely infectious.

Chances

1.Smoking
2.Alcohol
3.AIDS
4.Steroid overuse.

Symptoms

1.Difficulty in breathing
2.Thick phlegm
3.Chest pain
4.Thick mucus
5. Viral pneumonia is showing symptoms like wheezing, and high fever
6. Bacterial pneumonia shows symptoms like high fever with profuse sweating, bluish lips, nails, and confusion.
7. Children may have fast breathing, vomiting, and hesitate to eat.
8. Very old people may have lower temperatures.
In general bacterial pneumonia is more dangerous than viral pneumonia which can be short-lived and easily treated.

Pneumocystis jirovecii is the fungus that can cause pneumonia when a person's immunity is lowered especially in AIDS patients.
Bacterial viral pneumonia is more contagious than fungal pneumonia acquired by bad environments
People at Risk
1.Infants below five years
2.Old people above 65 yrs.
3.People whose immunity is destroyed or lowered due to AIDS or heavy use of steroids.
4.Chronic bedridden patients
5. Heavy alcohol use, smoking, using tobacco, marijuana and other illicit drugs
6.People with asthma, diabetes, heart failure.

Treatments

1. For bacterial pneumonia, antibiotics are the best medicines but according to the doctor's choice.
2. For viral pneumonia, a lot of fluid intake and rest is important to have a relief.
For viral infections antibiotics are not to be taken.
