SOME USEFULM MEDICAL TERMS-PART-1

MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY-1


In this post, I wish to summerise some medical terms used in my blogs.
1. Aorta-The large trunk of the artery arose from the left ventricle to carry the purified blood for distribution.
2. Artery-Aorta is branched into small arteries that carry purified blood for distribution
3. Arterioles-They branched from arteries into further small diameter for microcirculation.
4.Atrium-The two upper chambers of the human heart. the plural form is Atria.
5.Auricle-An ear like a projection of any part usually from the two atria.
6. Angina pectoris-A pressure originated squeezing heart pain due to coronary circulation defects, blocks, or ischemia.
7.Adrenals-Another term for suprarenal endocrine or ductless glands situated at the upper portion of each kidney (Rentals).
8.Adrenaline-The major secretion of the hormone from the central part of the adrenal gland (adrenal medulla)
9. Adreno Cortico Steroids-The major steroidal hormones secreted from the peripheral portion of adrenal glands(adrenal cortex)
10.Adipose Tissues-Fatty connective tissue composed of loose adipose (FAT) cells.
11. Ataxia-It is a neurological disorder consists of muscle discoordination with difficulty in speech, eye movements, walking, picking up objects, and other voluntary movements.
12.Akathesia-Uncontrollable limb and body movements especially by toxic effects of antipsychotic drugs or neuroleptics.
13.Asphyxia-Suffocation or a condition in which there is a lack of oxygen results in unconsciousness and death.
14.Anorexia-A medical condition in which there is a loss of appetite.
15Anesthesia-loss of senses or consciousness induced medically by drugs. Medical anesthesia occurs in four stages as
1.Stage of induction
2.Stage of excitation
3.Stage of surgical anesthesia
3.Stage of irreversible respiratory depression
16.Analgesia-A mild sensation to pain
17.Alopecia-Hair loss
