HIV-INFECTION-AIDS-II, III
Stage-2-Asymptomatic Stage:-
In this stage, the virus is active but multiplies a very low rate. That is why in this stage the patient will experience mild or no symptoms at all. Hence it is a dormant stage or asymptomatic stage.
Even if the patient does not take the medication in this stage as he does not feel any symptoms, the virus will remain asymptomatic for 10 years.
If a careful patient goes under treatment the life of the asymptomatic stage gets elongated for decades as the medications may keep in check the revival of the viral activity from asymptomatic to symptomatic for longer periods.
However, there is a possible spread of the virus to others in this dormant stage. But those who take medications are less likely to spread the virus to others.
Any how HIV can be spread to others at all stages. Hence necessary precautions should be always taken.
Stage-3-AIDS
When this stage reached the body becomes almost susceptible to all possible opportunistic infections as there is an almost total loss of immunity.
This final stage is known as Auto Immuno-Deficiency Syndrom or AIDS.
This stage attains to those who are not taking medication once when they get infected by the virus. Their protective CD-4 cell count drops and the symptoms reach their peak. However, those who take medication regularly from the first stage will never attain the stage of AIDS.
The diagnosis of AIDS can be performed by the count of CD-4 cells. In normal people, the count is 500 to 1600 cells per cubic m.m.In AIDS patients the count drops to below 200 cells per cubic m.m.
Alternatively, the development of one or more opportunistic diseases may indicate the presence of AIDS to the patient.
