STAGES OF HIV INFECTION-AIDS-I
INTRODUCTORY
HIV, explained by the term Human Immunodeficiency Virus is the microorganism that destroys the protective type of WBCs known as CD4 cells and thereby destroys the body's ability to resist infections.
The virus once infected to a person can spread over to another person through certain body fluids especially through semen by sexual contacts.
It is a life long condition that progresses typically overtime.
There are treatments that can help to slow or stop down the progression.
If left untreated the virus continues to kill the body's immunity system to lead to developing the condition known as Acquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndrom or AIDS.
At the stage of AIDS, there are increased risks of developing opportunistic infections such as pneumococcal pneumonia.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDCP), 'opportunistic infections are defined as the infections that occur more frequently and more severely in those with the defective immune system'

STAGES OF HIV INFECTIONS
Stage-I-Acute Infection
In this stage-1there is a large amount of virus in the bloodstream which makes a higher risk of transmitting the virus to others.
Within a certain period of becoming infected with the virus flu-like fever develop in some people but not all. This is due to the body's natural response to an infection as it attempts to kill off the virus. But however, the body is unable to eradicate the virus completely once it is infected.
The virus multiplies rapidly using the body's own CD-4 cells and thereby consumes it rapidly. Thus the virus spreads all over the body and depletes the defensive CD-4 cells.
At the stage, the process of virus replication stabilizes by the body's immune system and the levels of CD-4 start to increase, however, it may not return to its original count.
Symptoms of Acute Stage
1.Cutaneous and skeletal aches
2.Tiredness
3.Fever
4.Mouth ulcers
5.Night sweats
6.Body rashes
7.Sore throat
8.Swollen glands
